Looking for a place to express yourself, build confidence, and have a whole lot of fun? Join the Speech Team! Whether you're a natural performer, a future lawyer, a passionate storyteller, or just hoping to overcome a fear of public speaking, there's a spot for you on our team.
Speech is more than just talking—it's about thinking critically, speaking confidently, and connecting with others. You’ll learn how to craft arguments, deliver powerful messages, and think on your feet—all while competing in events that fit your strengths and personality.
Worried about speaking in front of a huge crowd? Don’t be! Speech isn’t standing on a stage in front of the whole school. Most competitions take place in regular classrooms, with just a judge and a few other speech kids in the room. It’s a low-pressure, supportive setting where everyone is cheering for you to do your best.
Speech might sound intimidating—but once you try it, you’ll see it’s one of the most welcoming, encouraging, and empowering spaces in high school. Whether you're loud or quiet, dramatic or analytical, there's a place for you on the team.
As a member of the team, you’ll grow your communication and leadership skills, earn recognition for your talents, and be part of a supportive, tight-knit group of students who cheer each other on every step of the way.
No experience? No problem. We’ll teach you everything you need to know.
Your voice matters—because #SpeechCounts.
Mrs. Hinkle (Head Coach) and Mr. Glueckert (Assistant Coach) are proud to lead our incredible high school speech team!
Both have been coaching for the past few years and have loved every moment of watching the team grow—not just in numbers, but in confidence, creativity, and competitive success. From first-time speakers to state finalists, they've seen students find their voices and step into their power.
Mrs. Hinkle brings her passion for language, performance, and student leadership to every practice and round. Mr. Glueckert brings energy, insight, and a talent for helping students refine their delivery and connect with their audience.
Together, they believe that speech is about more than just trophies (though the wins are always exciting!)—it’s about self-expression, courage, and community. They are beyond proud of the dedication and heart each student brings to the team.
Come grow with us—because #SpeechCounts!
